This internship is an ideal opportunity for candidates interested in expanding their industrial experience in formal process, operational, and business excellence practices and tools. Based in Madison, WI, the intern reports to the Sr. Manager of Operational Excellence and will design, participate and lead projects that expand the site's Lean Leadership capabilities - specifically with Visual Management and 6S. The work will be closely supported and mentored to ensure candidate success and deepen the career development opportunity. Day to Day Activities will include: * Scheduling and Facilitating Meetings * Creating project plans * Working cross-functionally with senior leadership to agree upon timelines and deliverables * Installing visual management systems according to illumina Standard Work * Cooperating with all levels of the organization to capture continuous improvement ideas * Learn about and begin to utilize the A3-Thinking problem solving methodology to address opportunities for improvement discovered in the course of projects. Education: * Must be rising junior, senior or graduating senior pursuing a degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering or related field or business management, operations management or related field. (minimum GPA 3.2) Required Experience/Knowledge: * Awareness of Lean Enterprise, Lean manufacturing or Lean management * Awareness of basic project management techniques * Expertise or specific training in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPointnbsp; Preferred Knowledge: * Strong mathematical aptitude * Completion of or experience equivalent with a 500-level statistics course * Familiarity with Design of Industrial Experiments (DOE) and mathematical modeling * Familiarity with or interest in quality management systems * Familiarity with microsoft visio, publisher or project * Familiarity with desktop statistical data analysis tools (SAS Jmp or Minitab) This role is located in Madison, WI.nbsp; Candidates can apply to intern roles through October 31st, at which time they will be removed from posting.nbsp; Please save the job description for all roles to which you applied, in order to reference once the postings are removed.
