Were looking for a highly analytical and passionate intern to join our HR Innovation Lab and help the Illumina HR team unlock bold new ideas and insights to drive our HR practices forward. The HR Innovation Lab is focused on using research, predictions of the future, and analysis of Illuminas current data to drastically evolve our people practices. Our intern will be responsible for helping us draw connections between disparate sets of data, provide deep analytics of our employee engagement data, and conduct research that helps to shape the future of Illuminas HR team. Ideal candidates will ground their work in strong data analysis but will be highly creative and innovative in approaching HR practices and programs. A passion for HR and moving the HR field into the future is a must. Responsibilities: * As a member of the HR Innovation lab, this individual will have a wide-range of responsibilities focused on taking data, research, and their own creative intuition and turning it into meaningful insights to shape our strategy. Some of the key projects include: * Analyzing our quantitative Employee Survey data to deliver new insights and draw connections between data sources. * Digging deep into the comments in our Employee Survey to help Illumina leadership determine key areas of focus to improve the Illumina employee experience. * Conduct internal and external research on the future of work, human resources, and the changing dynamics of the workforce. This research will help set the strategy and focus of the HR lab for 2019 and beyond. * Be a best practice champion, helping uncover areas of HR where we are not operating at a high standard, and provide guidance on how to improve. * Bring a future-focused, user-centric mindset to the HR Labs, helping us design for the future and the next generation of employees based on data, and personal experience. * Help us identify the most important data to display in an HR dashboard, including details such as attrition, demographic data, internal movement, etc. Requirements: * Rising junior/senior or graduating senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree * A passion for improving the employee experience, and evolving HR practices * Creative with a high tolerance for risk-taking and pushing the boundary * Empathetic and able to see programs and processes from multiple points of view * Strong analytical background with a focus on data-driven decision making * The ability to draw unique insights and connections from various data sets, while thinking big picture * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, and statistical analysis software such as SPSS, R, SAS, etc. Successful Completion demonstrated by: * Next level analysis of Power of i (Employee Survey) data that provides new insight for Illuminas leadership team. * In-depth analysis of key future of work themes with a focus on planning for the next generation of employees. * Insight into gaps or strengths in Illuminas HR data process. * Helping drive key research and insight for at least one HR lab program (engagement surveys, performance management, feedback, etc.). * Providing a baseline starting point for the HR dashboard.
