We are looking for an intern candidate with expertise in Physics, Mechanics, Electro-magnetics, or Microfluidics to help with development of new systems for enabling genomic analysis. The position involves supporting scientific research to develop tools leveraging novel materials and methods.nbsp; The candidate will plan, initiate, and execute scientific research for Illumina through collaboration and/or individual studies. They should have demonstrated expertise in measuring/calibrating physical parameters under micro-meter scaled environment, especially in microfluidic channels. nbsp;Experience in biomedical DNA assay or micro-electrode device design/fabrication is preferred.nbsp; Job Duties include but are not limited to: * Design, implement, analyze and present experiments to address specific research topics. * Explore new technologies and creative solutions to overcome current limitations and achieve project goals. * Work independently and within teams. Conduct clear and concise communication with colleagues and supervisors through oral updates, written reports, and technical meetings. * Be both a strong individual contributor and generate good quality research result.nbsp; Preferred Education and Experience: * A PhD, or a 3rd or 4th year PhD student who majors in Physic or Mechanics, Bio-engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry is preferred * Solid understanding of Physics (Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal properties) in micrometer scaled environment. * Hands-on experience with micrometer scaled device design and calibration. * Experience with design simple fluidics components or micro-fabrication of simple biomedical devices is preferred This role is located in Foster City, CA.nbsp; Candidates can apply to intern roles through October 31st, at which time they will be removed from posting.nbsp; Please save the job description for all roles to which you applied, in order to reference once the postings are removed.
