The Systems Support Engineering Team focuses on sustaining efforts in the manufacturing of Illumina sequencing instruments. This chemical/ bioengineering intern will help drive and support process improvement projects associated within instrument manufacturing, from sample preparation to final instrument production. The intern will be responsible for developing an understanding of the process, highlighting areas for cost savings/process improvement and implementing those improvements in manufacturing. Other responsibilities include: * Working with cross-functional teams of quality, manufacturing, sustaining engineering teams and supply chain * Performing wet-lab experiments for implementation activities * Documentation of activities in a regulatory environment * Weekly check-in meetings with manager to review progress amp; highlight roadblocks Qualifications amp; Requirements: * Rising Junior/Senior in B.S. engineering major (preferably in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or other engineering degree with a biotech focus in experience) * Minimum 3.2 GPA Must-have basic skills: * Experience with Qubit or other DNA concentration test methods (PCR, NanoDrop) * Wet-lab experience in biology and/or fluidics * Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint amp; can make a presentation skillfully * Project management * Organizational skills * Strong communication skills, written and verbal * Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment * Highly motivated * Problem-solving skills Highly desired skills: * Library preparation for genome sequencing * Root cause analysis techniques * Six sigma/ ASQ techniques (DMAIC, 8D) * Ability to create financial modeling for cost savings This role is located in Hayward, CA.nbsp; Candidates can apply to intern roles through October 31st, at which time they will be removed from posting.nbsp; Please save the job description for all roles to which you applied, in order to reference once the postings are removed.
