It truly is an opportunity to learn, grow, and become a fully-integrated member of the Illumina community. As a bioinformatics scientist intern supporting research for Illumina NIPT product. Primary responsibilities will include analysis of large genomic data sets, novel algorithm design to support and improve Illuminas NIPT product line providing general bioinformatics support tonbsp;Research amp; Development Responsibilities: * Employ the latest methods in bioinformatics to analyze large Genotyping, copy number data sets. * Employ the latest methods in bioinformatics to enhance and / or replace algorithmic solutions to support production of Illumina Sequencing platform * Develop novel algorithms to design and analyze data from high throughput variant detection studies from DNA and RNA experiments. * Provide support to ongoing new product development projects, in fast paced research and product development environment.. * Be actively involved in implementation of bioinformatics algorithms in both production and customer facing SW and ensure scope of product requirements and SW verification plans enable the thorough and robust testing of these * Maintain familiarity with current scientific computing approaches. * Maintain familiarity with the fields of methylation, copy number and genotyping. * Keep detailed lab notebooks, prepare reports, invention disclosures, updates and summaries for managers and teams as directed. * Engage in collaborative research and publications. Education: * Student pursuing a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or related field or MS degree and equivalent industry experience. Qualifications and Requirements * Proficiency in programming in Perl/Python, Matlab/R.nbsp; * Machine learning algorithmsnbsp; * Deep understanding of probabilistic modeling, statistics, data structures, classic genomic algorithms such as sequence alignment CNV and variant calling algorithms. * Background in NIPT Copy number and Genoptying. * Array and / or Next gen sequencing technology, tool usage, and data analysis a plus. * Proven critical-thinking skills and demonstrated ability to manage and interpret large biological data sets. * Analytical, detail-oriented, organized, problem solver. * Completer-finisher sees projects through from concept to implementation with pride and dedication to meeting customers needs * Self-starter, self-motivated and independent but can work well in a cross-functional team. * Creative approach to problem solving and algorithm design. * Excellent verbal/written communication skills.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; This role is located in Foster City, CA.nbsp; Candidates can apply to intern roles through October 31st, at which time they will be removed from posting.nbsp; Please save the job description for all roles to which you applied, in order to reference once the postings are removed.
