This role presents a rare opportunity to influence the future of applied genomics by joining the Illumina Genomic Screening Incubator (GSI). GSI is a cross-functional team responsible for sourcing and generating new product ideas for the rapidly growing genomic screening applications and turning them into development-ready projects. We are doing so by conducting proof of concept studies, building business cases, securing Ramp;D and commercial partnerships, and designing variant content for new microarray and sequencing panels. We are carrying out these activities both internally and in collaboration with external partners. The intern in this role will be responsible for performing market research and competitive research deep-dives in the areas of strategic interest, creating business cases for new product ideas, and/or building and executing elements of the GSI ideation process. You will work cross-functionally across sales, product management, segment marketing, market development, Ramp;D, and business development departments. At the conclusion of the project, you will have a deeper understanding of the strategic marketing process as well as gain experience conducting market and competitive research, evaluating new product proposals, and presenting to the leadership team. Qualifications and Requirements * Must be a current graduate student (MS, Ph.D., MBA, or equivalent), with a minimum 3.2 GPA both cumulative and major (will be veried by transcripts). Undergraduate degree in business or life sciences required.nbsp; Combination of business and life science education strongly preferred. * Highly motivated, curious individual with the proven ability to think innovatively toward solving problems in the fast-paced environment. * Self-starter with strong problem-solving, quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and a track record of high performance and superior delivery on the deadlines. * Detail-oriented and organized. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to exert inuence to achieve the goals of the project in a collaborative environment are required. * Intermediate to advanced level of familiarity with the corporate nance, accounting, and marketing strategy concepts is required. Experience performing market or competitive research and building financial models is a strong plus. * Strong record of leadership in an academic, professional, or extracurricular setting is required. * Intermediate Excel and Power Point skills are required. * Basic understanding of genomics preferred. * Experience in sales, marketing, or business preferred.
