We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to join our fabrication team. This role involves the precise layout, fitting, and welding of structural steel and heavy weldments for material handling systems. The ideal candidate is experienced in heavy fabrication, understands engineering drawings, and is committed to quality and safety in every step of the process. Responsibilities: • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to lay out and fabricate components. • Fit, align, and weld heavy steel structures used in cranes, lift tables, upenders, and other custom handling equipment. • Perform MIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding (vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions). • Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, magnetic drills, and overhead cranes. • Conduct dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet tolerances and quality standards. • Maintain a safe and organized work area, adhering to company and OSHA safety standards. • Collaborate with engineers and production teams to solve fabrication challenges. • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and product quality. Qualifications: • 3+ years of welding and fitting experience in heavy steel fabrication (preferably in cranes, material handling, or industrial machinery). • Proficient in MIG and Flux-Core welding; Stick welding experience a plus. • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural drawings. • Experience with heavy plate fabrication and large weldments. • Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on accuracy and detail. • Familiarity with aerospace or primary metals industry standards is a plus. • Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes (certification preferred). • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding shop environment. Compensation: $22 - $26 hourly
