    Packaging Engineering Intern - United States of America, Michigan, Grand Rapids - Administration - WD30045782087 - What you will do Hart & Cooley, established in 1901, and part of Johnson Controls Incorporated, is a well-known industry leader in multiple product lines with manufacturing and distribution centers located throughout North America. We manufacture HVAC products for residential construction and commercial HVAC, venting and roofing products for commercial/industrial markets. The Packaging Engineering position is part of the product engineering department that oversees the day to day support of operations as well as works new product development projects and other related engineering activity. This position provides exposure to marketing, product management, sales, plant managers, as well as senior leadership. This internship position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance activities of the full packaging aspect of the product offering. This role also involves the optimization of existing packaging resources to focus on cost and reduction of product damage. This position ensures that comprehensive engineering processes and techniques are being applied to each project during both planning and execution, and provides expertise to their project to ensure that all applicable specifications and standards are followed. How you will do it: - Responsible for the successful completion of product engineering or packaging projects within schedule, cost and design specifications. - Analysis of supplier capabilities and support. - Development of specifications for materials and test methods as needed.

    • Work with outside suppliers as necessary. - Assure necessary product documentation (drawings, B.O.M.). - Support manufacturing/operations during implementation of all packaging projects. - Give product demonstrations. - Value analysis of all packaging, including corrugated, chipboard, foam-in-place, films, bags, stretch/shrink wraps and crating.. - Monitor competitive product development. - Evaluate and redesign products for improved process, quality and profitability.
