    Position Summary

    Under the instruction and supervision of the Brewery Plant Manager, the Packaging Operator is primarily responsible for packaging all beer that is produced at the Pacific Beach brewery. In addition, he/she will perform a variety of tasks as assigned in the brewery/warehouse.

    Essential Functions & Duties

    Operates the Super-King keg machine.

    Tests the bright beer with the Zahm-Nagel CO2 tester and makes sure it is ready for kegging.

    Manages inventory levels of the ponies and canisters, making sure there’s always enough on hand.

    Ensures “Super-King” is in proper working order by maintaining a regular schedule of cleaning and maintenance and CIP.

    Conducts quality inspections to ensure all kegs are in good quality, checking the CO2 valve and appearance making sure every keg is fit to house our beer.

    Coordinates with the Logistics Supervisor on getting it in the right place and in the right order to ensure freshness with every delivery.

    Sanitizes the beer lines and preps the machine for the next day’s work.

    Understands it is a team effort to keep getting the beer out the door so helps out as needed with Packaging, Distribution, and Production.

    Gets to drive one of the forklifts.

    Appreciates the ebbs and flows of the business sometimes working overtime to meet the demands of our loyal fans.

    Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    HS diploma or equivalent.

    1-2 years relevant Brewery/Packaging experience.

    Works well independently and cooperatively with others.

    Mechanical aptitude for equipment repairs and troubleshooting.

    Flexible schedule to accommodate seasonal production demands.

    Forklift certification preferred.

    Physical Demands

    Heavy work: Team member typically share a workstation with others in similar positions. Time spent conducting sedentary work is less than 25%. Requires walking, standing, and/or driving for more than 75% of the workday. Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

    Non-slip shoes with reinforced toes are required to be worn at all times while in the brewery/warehouse.

    Chemical resistant gloves and/or boots are required to be worn at all times while working with chemicals.

    Hearing protection and safety glasses are required to be worn in the specified areas in the brewery.

    Requires frequent trips up and downstairs, bending, stooping, and/or twisting, and mobile dexterity to manipulate small tools and machinery.
