  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary

    The Delivery Driver will deliver kegs, cases of beer, brewery supplies and internal materials to our brewpubs and various other accounts throughout San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles counties within his/her established route and/or schedule. The delivery driver will interact and build relationships with customers and the internal staff in order to effectively maintain business operations.

    Essential Functions & Duties

    Delivers all company products in accordance with established procedures; adheres to designated routes and customer base.

    Loads and unloads company merchandise, beer and mail into the vans & trucks, in accordance with safety standards.

    Delivers and picks up kegs to and from customers in a timely and courteous manner while adhering to all applicable motor vehicle regulations.

    Handles all Karl Strauss property and equipment with care.

    Maintains cleanliness of assigned vehicle, as well as daily maintenance, including ensuring proper fuel, oil and fluid levels. Notifies Distribution Manager of any possible mechanical problems. Vehicle must be washed on a weekly basis.

    Maintains accurate records of daily deliveries and communicates any problems to the Distribution Manager.

    Completes assigned paperwork (driver log, transfer log, invoices) correctly and on time.

    Notifies Distribution Manager of any client or vehicle problems, including any accidents or motor vehicle citations.

    Maintains strong customer relationships with the entire customer base.

    Effectively and safely operates a forklift and hand truck to transport company products; follow all safety standards and practice personal safety measures at all times.

    Drives safely at all times, planning and using the most efficient driving route.

    Issues or obtains customer signature on receipts for pickups or deliveries.

    Informs customers of new products or services.

    Listens to and resolves delivery/pick-up service complaints or refers complaint to appropriate company personnel.

    Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    High School diploma or equivalent. No prior experience necessary.

    Strong communication skills are required for interaction with customers and management.

    Must maintain a valid California driver's license and be insurable to the Company's motor vehicle insurance policy.

    Must be able to perform fundamental math skills on a regular basis.

    Ability to follow directions, read maps, and ask for assistance when necessary.

    Physical Demands

    Very heavy work: Employee typically shares workstations with others in similar positions. Time spent conducting sedentary work is less than 10%. Requires walking, standing, and/or driving for more than 90% of the workday. Lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or more.

    Requires the use and wear of personal protective equipment (PPE) including non-slip shoes with reinforced toes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and when driving, a hands-free headset device.

    Requires reading and understanding all posted motor vehicle signage, regulations, and safety procedures.

    Requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, frequent trips up and down stairs, pulling, pushing, and grasping.
