Position Summary

The Engineering Intern will assist the Director of Engineering to provide engineering support to Brewery Operations, Maintenance and Capital Projects.

Essential Functions & Duties

Gain understanding of utility process systems supporting the brewery operation (Compressors, Chillers, Boilers)

Prepare as-built P&IDs of existing utility systems (steam, CO2, air, hot and cold liquor, water and Glycol cooling

Determine capacity requirements for utility systems and recommend necessary expansions to system

Assist, as Project Engineer, the installation of new chiller and supporting piping upgrades

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with creating P&ID drawings (CAD based – AutoCAD, AutoPLANT)

Experienced with piping and process design – flow calculations, pipe and pump sizing

Able to effectively communicate with brewery operations personnel and mechanical contractors – both written and verbal

Must be able to execute several projects concurrently in fast-paced and lean brewery environment

Must be able to work out in plant, roll up sleeves and get hands dirty as necessary

Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision – self-starter and resourcefulness required
