    Karl Strauss Brewing Company in San Diego's original craft brewery, pioneering the San Diego beer scene since 1989. Flash-forward 30 years and Karl Strauss is currently the 41st largest craft brewery in the US and operates 10 brewery restaurants across Southern California.     Position Location: Karl Strauss Sorrento Mesa (Brewery Gardens)

    Position Compensation: $24-27/hour including tip wage

    Position Summary

    The Brewpub Crew Member position focuses on creating an environment of hospitality and enthusiasm for guests within the Brewpubs. The role of the Brewpub Crew Member is to guide and support the guest through Brewpub Experience while completing necessary job functions. This position will be assigned the duties of the Counter Beer Expert (CBE), Experience Ambassador (EA), or Beer Hero (BE) on a rotating shift bases.

    Essential Functions & Duties

    Brewpub Day to Day Operations: Responsibilities of all Brewpub Crew Members

    Demonstrates proficient knowledge about the Company’s initiatives and policies & procedures.

    Attends and actively participates in “Be Prepared” meetings.

    Maintains education by using the “own your shift” tools to ensure up to date knowledge on company communication, training modules and Local, State, and Federal regulations.

    Follows coaching and direction given by the BP Chef, Brewpub Shift Manager, and General Manager.

    Aligns with the Company’s purpose of “Making People Happy one Karl Strauss Beer at a Time.”

    Exhibits a positive and professional demeanor by demonstrating optimism, warmth, and integrity to create a pleasant environment for guests and other team members.

    Works to build relationships with guests and continuously looks for opportunities to make each experience memorable.

    Engages with guests in an upbeat manner and works to leave each customer happier than when they entered the Brewpub.

    Ensures all guests are following safety policies and escalates issues or concerns to the management team as soon as possible.

    Demonstrates teamwork by consistently helping teammates on tasks that maybe outside of their normal job duties.

    Assists the team in the set-up and break down of the Brewpub.

    Demonstrates the ability to work well under pressure while multitasking.

    Ensures all chemical safety MSDS requirements and policies & procedures are followed.

    Follows company safe lifting policies when moving kegs, umbrellas, tables, and chairs or any heavy items.

    Works efficiently and safely by following all Company safety policies and procedures, and the monthly safety topics.

    Helps maintain a clean work environment by performing all daily and weekly side work.

    Completes Food Safety Line Check with integrity and helps the management team resolve any concerns to ensure we serve the safest and highest quality food to our guests.

    Serves alcohol responsibly by adhering to all Company policies, local, state, and federal regulations concerning the sale of alcohol.

    Checks the valid ID of any guest that appears to be under 40 years of age.

    Understands the importance of never over-serving guests and reports potential consumption concerns to the management team before serving another round.

    Assists with answering the phone, taking to-go orders, redirecting calls, and providing guests with accurate information regarding operations, menu, and general questions.

    Controls the flow of seating, provide table numbers and general guidance or direction on the experience or needs of the guest.

    Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    High School diploma or equivalent

    Previous experience working and leading other team members in a brewpub or taproom

    Knowledge and passion for craft beer

    Previous hospitality experience

    Must be able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced setting while remaining calm and organized

    Previous experience working in a customer service role

    Requires strong verbal communication skills

    Punctual and enthusiastic, honest, and reliable

    Successful completion of the Company’s onboarding, training program, and subsequent testing
