An internship is an excellent way to gain practical, firsthand experience in the food industry. Kerry interns receive competitive pay, working as an engaged member of the team and applying academic knowledge to valued business projects. Some interns have earned academic credit for their Kerry internship; we fully support this endeavor. While interns learn about Kerryrsquo;s business and marketplace through a structured development program, Kerry leaders get to know and evaluate interns. As a result, a majority of interns receive offers for full-time, post-graduation roles with Kerry. Description and Responsibilities The Sensory Intern's primary focus will be assisting with screening and training an External Descriptive panel. In addition, this experience will expose the Intern to a wide range of sensory methods that are available to assist the RDamp;A Scientist in making great tasting products. Other activities include learning EyeQuestion software to generate ballots, taking focus group notes, conducting ongoing screening and training for new hires. During the9-12 months, the intern will assist the scientists with panel set-up, execute, analysis of results and report writing. Over time, the intern will take on more and more of the responsibilities until they can independently run a project on their own. During the 6 months, the Intern will have a research project and upon completion will present the results to the Sensory department in a Lunch and Learn session. Qualifications 9-12Month Internship MS or PhD student in Sensory, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Statistics or related field. Must be computer savvy with ability to create and modify Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations Must follow direction and work independently. Familiar with Food Handling, Safety and Sanitation practices Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, follow instructions, flexible and detail oriented. Must be willing to taste and smell chemicals, flavors and food products. Must be able to stand for long periods of time in a laboratory setting and lift 50 pounds Must be self-directed with ability to ask questions, investigate, and follow-up. Candidate must be an effective written and verbal communicator.
