    Position Details:

    • Title: Chemical Buyer
    • Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for this role will have 7+ years purchasing experience, preferably with a background in chemicals/chemical manufacturing. Strong understanding of Excel and ERP systems.
    • Schedule: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, M-F
    • Location: Gibbstown, NJ (08027)

    Position Overview/Job Description:

    The Buyer reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for identifying suppliers, researching goods and services, processing purchase orders, and verifying deliveries and received items.

    Essential Functions:

    • Review daily MRP demand, issue purchase orders and following up on deliveries through to completion. Review and approve vendor invoices and reconcile quantity and pricing discrepancies.
    • Create and maintain the master data of all purchased SKUs in our ERP system ensuring data accuracy at all time. Review and adjust stocking policies to reflect demand pattern, special events and future trends.
    • Lead pricing negotiations with suppliers taking into consideration product quality, business volume, delivery lead-time, inventory investment, technical support and supply security.
    • Locate, qualify and onboard new suppliers for new products or alternate sources.
    • Build effective partnership with key suppliers. Monitor performance metrics and oversee satisfactory resolution of complaints and open issues. Keep abreast of changes that may affect product supply or demand, as well as promotional prices and incentives that may lead to higher profitability.
    • Observe purchasing and vendor management processes ensuring full compliance to the internal ISO and Quality Assurance programs.
    • Analyze, identify and implement improvement opportunities in the purchasing function.
    • Provide regular updates to other Purchasing Agents, Management, Sales, and other department(s) on purchasing/product information, and delivery times.
    • Other duties and projects as requested.

    Qualifications:

    • 7 years of purchasing experience in commodity chemicals and/or chemicals for the cosmetic, hygiene or personal care industries.

    • Previous experience working in manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, advanced Excel skills.
    • Knowledgeable/experience working with an MRP or ERP system.
    • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to interface and communicate/collaborate a all levels internally and externally.
      • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
    • High level of attention to detail.
    • Ability to work with competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
    • Flexible- adapt to changing tasks and expectations.
    • Strong negotiator and business acumen.
    • Self-starter, strong initiative, dependable and capable of following through with minimal supervision.
    • Analytical and process driven.
    • Resourceful problem-solving skills.

    Desired Skills:

    • Microsoft D365 software experience.

    Education/Certifications:

    • High School Diploma.
    • Associates Degree or additional training in purchasing/supply chain.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or technical field.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • Physical Demands: Employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; kneel and climb. The employee must have the ability to frequently lift/move up to 15 pounds.
    • Work Environment: This position requires one to work both in an office environment and a manufacturing facility. There is a moderate level of noise, heat, cold, dust, dirt and fumes in the manufacturing setting. Employee may be exposed to varying temperatures.
