    Maintenance Technical InternJob DescriptionNE Job Description - Maintenance Technical Intern Salary: $18.00 / Hour Position Purpose: To function as a Maintenance Technical Intern by building talent on KC systems and equipment by performing maintenance duties. This includes safely supporting production and quality by insuring proper operation and upkeep of the manufacturing and supporting equipment. Key Customers: Team Leader, Maintenance Planners, Operating Crews, Machine Leaders, Project Leaders. Customer Expectations: Ensure that maintenance activities are accomplished within mill area teams in a manner that supports mill and department objectives. Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity. Own and drive machine uptime. Visible leader of Lean principles (i.e. engagement, leader standard work, zone control, problem solving). Ensure corrective and preventive action for all machine non-conformances and support operating crews when needed. Scope: The incumbent reports to the Tech Team Leader and receives work direction from a Maintenance Planner that he/she is assigned to. This is a training position for a Shift Technical or Day Maintenance position. The position will rotate through all areas of the mill as part of the training. This position provides expertise and coordination for the technical activities. To be successful, the incumbent must possess a high level of technical skills. This position communicates directly with operating crews, core team, Technical Experts, Maintenance Leads, Shift Leaders, and other Machine Leaders to achieve business objectives. Qualifications: Required: A minimum of 3 consecutive years’ experience in maintenance (preferably in Electrical/Electronics) supporting a manufacturing/industrial operation. Or: A two year technical degree (preferably Electrical/Electronics) or substantial progress towards completion with a requirement of obtaining to advance within maintenance. Successfully passing a skill knowledge evaluation is required before consideration for this position. The Maintenance Technical Intern must demonstrate personal sensitivity and competency in process and technical knowledge, as well as leadership. This position must: 1. be able to perform the physical requirements of the job; 2. be available by phone in order to respond to issues and 3. be able to work overtime as necessary. Dimensions: Vary widely depending on project scope and operating area. Principal Accountabilities - Maintenance Technical Intern 1. Safety • Demonstrating safety leadership by knowing and following all safety rules. Ensure team is accountable as well. • Reviewing accident/incident investigations in a timely manner and confronting unsafe conditions/behaviors. 2. Quality • Assure work activities (PM's, work order, etc.) are completed. • Keeps accurate information in SAP and other maintenance systems. 3. Productivity / Efficiency • Understand key cost concepts (grade cost, machine hour cost, raw material cost) and cost drivers (uptime, first pass yield, final yield/reclaim, labor cost, maintenance cost, operating supplies, etc.). • Assist and fully support Machine Leader in decisions. • Assist team in machine startups and shutdowns. 4. Human Resources • Demonstrate situational leadership in area of technical expertise. • Develop other team members where appropriate. Build technical knowledge in other team members through training and work order assistance. • Provide feedback for team members' performance reviews. • Continue self-development. • Support engagement and enablement opportunities for a diverse workforce. 5. Asset Management • Drive machine start-up, shut down, assist grade changes where needed. • In-depth troubleshooting capabilities on technical and or process related issues. • Leads mechanical checks and non-conformance follow-up. • Actively engaged on machine innovations/improvements (based off "Top 5 Uptime Opportunities"). • Process and Instrument Diagram "P&ID" knowledge of process. • Detailed knowledge of Purchasing, Stores, SAP, and other applicable work systems. • Perform PM's/work orders as required. 6. Communications • Provide equipment updates/machine status information. Communicate fully with superiors, subordinates and others who have need to know. • Be informative without being obtrusive or vexatious. Communicate in a way that is timely, yet prompt; complete, yet concise; yet accurate; and clear, yet responsive. • Facilitate crew to crew communication and resolution of technical issues. 7.
