    Title: Academic Support Assistant

     

    Reports to: Assistant Dean / Director of Staten Island Advisement

     

    Campus: Staten Island

     

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Associate Dean for Advisement, this individual will provide clerical and administrative support for the assistant deans of The Lesley H. & William L. Collins College of Professional Studies (CCPS) on our Staten Island Campus. This individual will also assist with the day-to-day operations of the CCPS Dean’s Staten Island Office and will have daily contact with students, faculty, and other members of the University community. They must be highly motivated and have the ability to analyze, organize and see a task to its completion and be dedicated to our student service goals as well as our Vincentian Mission. The individual should possess intermediate skill levels in Office 365 applications and be able to master University-specific database programs.

     

    Responsibilities:

    ● Provide clerical and administrative support to the assistant deans of CCPS, including but not limited to basic office duties such as answering phones, distributing mail, scheduling appointments, faxing, preparing correspondence, filing, ordering supplies, coordinating meetings and events, and utilizing the appropriate remote technology (webex, zoom, Microsoft teams) when applicable.

    ● Ensure that supplies, forms, records, brochures, etc., are efficiently managed and available at all times.

    ● Handle reception and student, faculty, administrator, and guest contact with the assistant deans of CCPS.

    ● Support assistant deans with academic advisement, planning and executing student events (remote and in-person), preparing reports as needed and other correspondence, coordinating make-up exams, and marketing initiatives for the college and specific academic programs.

    ● Perform other duties as assigned.

     

     

    Qualifications:

    ● A high school diploma or equivalent.

    ● A minimum two years of office experience.

    ● Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively as a team player.

    ● Possess excellent time management and organizational skills, initiative and resourcefulness.

    ● Exhibit the flexibility and resourcefulness to be able to perform successfully when challenged by changing workflow priorities, especially within a remote environment.

    ● Have the ability to gain and maintain confidence and cooperation of faculty, administration, students, and other members of the University community.

    ● Possess excellent listening, communication, and organizational skills.

    ● Have the multitasking skills essential to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

    ● Exhibit intermediate skill level in the use of Office 365.

    ● Ability and willingness to learn new software used in optimizing workflow and marketing processes like Emma and Formstack.

    ● Have the ability to master specific university computer software like Banner, Degree works, etc.

    • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks when required.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:    

    • Knowledge of Object Oriented Design and Development, and modern design patterns and anti-patterns.
    • Experience with C++ 11 programming standards or C# and higher language features.
    • Firm grasp of multi-threaded design and development.
    • Self-motivated with strong ability to work independently and take ownership of development targets.

    PREFERRED SKILLS:                   

    • Experience with Visual Studio for C++ development.
    • Experience developing using SOLID programming principles.
    • Experience developing network applications, TCP/IP communications, HTTP, REST, SOAP.
    • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks and mocking frameworks considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of CI tools such as Jenkins.
    • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, etc.
