    Purpose of Position:

    Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Cost Accounting Manager will be a key member of Mann Packing finance team and financial business partner for the business operations. In addition to analyzing & interpreting financial performance, this position will work closely with Corporate Finance processes and analysis related to annual plant budgeting, quarterly forecasting, month-end closings, and other ad-hoc reporting.  In this role, the position will also be responsible for ensuring adherence to, and implementation of financial policies and procedures within a robust control environment. 

     

    Accountabilities:

    • Responsible for all manufacturing cost accounting related activities including month end close, balance sheet reconciliations, standard cost setting, inventory management, and related overhead absorptions.
    • Drive operational improvements and efficiencies on labor & overhead burden to improve business profitability.
    • Work with inventory control team and internal audit team to monitor, track and improve the inventory count (cycle count) process and inventory accuracy.
    • Work closely with the supply chain team to understand production schedules, contracts, inventory movements and other supply chain matters in order to ensure inventory is fairly stated on the balance sheet.
    • Monitor, measure and refine KPIs, metrics and operational performance.
    • Create processes to perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price Variance, Material Usage Variance, Efficiency Variance and Labor Rate Variance.
    • Develop Activity Base Costing for overhead departments.
    • Review, report and provide commentary/analysis of costs against prior periods, plan and latest forecast.
    • Participate in the maintenance and review for manufactured items and prepare cost estimate for new products.
    • Partner with different functions of the business to ensure accuracy and control of master data related to Item Master, Bill of Materials, Product Router and Inventory Transactions Types.
    • Perform financial analysis regarding business performance, with the overall objective of providing assistance and guidance to regional Vice Presidents, Operations Manager as well as Production Managers for all business lines within the Company.
    • Assist in the completion of annual budgets and forecast.
    • Supports Operations in preparing monthly business review meetings by helping to prepare explanations of variances to Forecast.
    • Document controls, processes and procedures related to manufacturing accounting and ensure SOX compliance.
    • Assist with and ensure successful quarterly and year end audits.
    • Supervise regional finance personnel.
    • Provide leadership and take accountability for identifying and driving process and systems improvements initiatives.
    • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses and assist team with research on cost accounting questions and assist with special projects as requested

     

    Minimum Skills Required:

    • 4 year college degree (Accounting), from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience in a related field.
    • Experience in manufacturing/operations environment
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role, with supervisory and/or management experience including implementation of financial policies and procedures.
    • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
    • Experience with SAP financials (or other mayor ERP System) and related modules.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. oral and written).
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented and confidential environment.

     

    Preferred but not Essential:

    • CMA certification or in process.
    • JD Edwards financials and related modules.
    • Knowledge in data analysis tools.
    • Prior experience in the fresh produce/food industry.
    • Experience with Multinational Corporations.

  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Financial Management
    • 5 years of financial reporting and analysis experience.
    • Preferred 3+ years of previous experience in health care data analysis or reimbursement methods required, preferably within a managed care environment.
    • Develop clear and concise solutions/conclusions and provide recommendations and “value added” support to customers.
    • Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement methodologies from an operational and financial perspective particularly hospital and physician coding and claim payment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access, SQL or similar software.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Excellent organization skills; attention to detail

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Primarily sedentary.
    • Must be able to use standard office equipment.
