NURSE PRACTITIONER
STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES
SUMMARY:
Student Health Services seeks an energetic and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to provide general medical services for St. John's University students and campers. The NP will be responsible for the delivery of urgent care, conducting medical histories and physical examinations, management of immunization requirements and health clearances of students as required by their program for successful academic experiences outside of the classroom. The NP will be involved in Health education programming for students.
The recently expanded program for Student Wellness is part of an integrated approach to wellness that includes Student Health Services, Wellness Education and Prevention, and the Center for Counseling and Consultation. The Department of Student Wellness is composed of a multidisciplinary team of professionals including psychologists, social workers, counselors, consulting psychiatrist, nurses, consulting physicians, a wellness coach, a nutritionist, and a team of graduate assistants.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess, plans, documents and evaluates patient needs and treatment. Refers patient as appropriate to local providers/or facilities. Collaboratively works with the physician and other members of Student Health Services and Student Affairs. Works with other disciplines within the university to provide quality health care outcomes for student's academic success.
Anticipates problems and works to problem solve. The practitioner will demonstrates sensitivity and the patient's right to confidentiality. Assist students to better identify their own health needs and acquire the knowledge skills and behaviors necessary to manage their health needs appropriately . Will participate in health education and health promotion programs as needed.
Will have responsibility for the children's overnight camp program during summers. Potential to expand health services for students on our Staten Island campus.

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
