Reporting to R&D Director and senior scientific team, the primary responsibility is to aid in the development of new products and testing methods. The internship will last for 10-12 weeks, with the opportunity to renew on a quarterly basis. Interns in Research and Development will:

• Conduct physical testing of products whenever required such as pH, Viscosity, specific gravity.
• Prepare specimens and samples for analysis.
• Assist with maintenance organization and general housekeeping of the R&D laboratory.
• Ensure laboratory stocks of raw materials and consumables are maintained.
• Maintain written and electronic records of laboratory experiments.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Record test data and interpret results.
• Conduct laboratory work to good laboratory practices.
• Conduct work in a safe and compliant manner.
• Contribute to laboratory improvements.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

This position is ideal for a candidate who enjoys working in a hands-on technical role within an R&D team. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

• Current or upcoming enrollment in undergraduate program at accredited college, community college or university in the Greater Seattle Metropolitan Area.
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, or applicable science discipline.
• Able to adapt and respond to the needs of a growing organization conducting R&D activities.
• Proficiency with software applications such as MS Office Suite and Google suite required.
• Ability to work up to +15 hours per week.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at time of application.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Be authorized to work in the U.S.

Positions require standing, repetitive movement, bending and twisting, and using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; exposure to a variety of food allergens; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, and ladders. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to complete a number of regular tasks.

BENEFITS

This a part-time, hourly position, with a starting wage of $15/hr. Hours are flexible to meet the schedule and needs of each intern. Veterans strongly encouraged to apply.
