    PRINCIPAL HARDWARE ENGINEER, ELECTRIFICATION

     

     

    Principal Hardware Engineer position within the Southfield, MI Electrification Engineering team.

    The Principal Hardware Engineer is an experienced professional engineer with 10+ years of experience in power electronics / automotive electronics design. They have deep knowledge of circuit design for power electronics, power supplies, embedded systems design, analogue electronics and digital electronics. They have proven experience in leading hardware teams / automotive product development.

     

    Primary Roles & Responsibilities

    • Technical specialist / subject matter expert
    • Lead high power / high voltage; circuit design, simulation, DFMEA, worst case analysis, etc.
    • Lead technical problem solving efforts; validation, component, manufacturing, customer issues
    • Lead hardware design reviews throughout the design process
    • Lead engineering quote activities, including architecture definition, circuit design and BOM
    • Define power electronics technology and component usage roadmaps
    • Lead technical interface with customers
    • Mentor junior engineers

     

    Experience

    • BSEE/BSME (or equivalent); MSEE preferred
    • Minimum 10 years of automotive circuit design experience
    • Experience in High voltage circuit design (Inverter, On-Board Charger, DC-DC, BMS) (preffered)
    • Ability to lead structured problem-solving activities
    • Detailed understanding of power electronics
    • Detailed understanding of component technologies and capabilities
    • Strong understanding of automotive electronics manufacturing processes and methods
    • Strong knowledge of Design for EMC, and Design for Manufacturing
    • Familiarity with AEC-Q component requirements
    • Detailed understanding of electronics product development process
    • Self motivated
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Strong customer focus
    • Flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines
    • Effective communication skills
