    TITLE:  Materials Specialist II – Group Leader over Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS)

     

    NATURE OF WORK: Incumbents in this position work will consist of two major functions. (1) Assist the Logistics operations in the day-to-day administration of the Material ASRS System (WMS) to ensure continued smooth running of the warehouse operations, and (2) Provide support of all material functions by assisting plant employees in regards to daily assignments and tasks, training, and work schedules.

     

    EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED (The following duties are typical for this classification. However, any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

    • Provides administrative support to Material ASRS system (WMS)
    • Plan & co-ordinate stock checks & cycle counts
    • Prepare daily, weekly & monthly reports as required
    • Ensures policies and procedures are maintained
    • Assists with identifying and resolving operational and procedural issues
    • Participates in brainstorming sessions to streamline current and new processes and to submit process improvement on a consistent basis
    • Ensure that team members are trained & familiar with the Material ASRS Procedures.
    • Monitor Picklist, and make necessary adjustments to ensure Material ASRS system (WMS) to ensure production areas are running at Maximum Efficiency levels.
    • Responsible for resolution of inventory sync issues. This includes reviewing daily inventory & error reports, identifying root cause and addressing discrepancies
    • Serve as primary support for Material ASRS system (WMS) for all end users issues/questions
    • Responsible for facilitation of all new access and user termination requests, including access levels
    • Enforces health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Assist with planning work schedules, assignments, and time keeping of team members.
    • Demonstrates equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
    • Confers with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems and complaints.
    • Analyzes information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
    • Provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
    • Assist with daily goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and meet internal and external customer requirements.
    • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
    • Reviews processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
    • Reviews operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve system issues.
    • Recommends training programs or reorganization techniques for the manufacturing process.
    • Foster team environment and promote an engaged workforce

      

     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and efficiencies, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

    • Knowledge of Logistic operations including but not limited to material picking, receiving and shipping, FIFO, etc

    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

    • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

    • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

    • Knowledge of the various functions of an automotive plant such as maintenance, quality, production control, safety, quality, operations, and materials as needed to oversee and direct employees in these functions.

    • Knowledge of strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM), just-in-time, and self directed teams as needed to effectively implement these strategies.

    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

    • Knowledge organizational rules, regulations, procedures, and practices as needed to oversee processes and human resources.

     

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

    • Physical Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
    • Physical Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
    • Physical Ability to concentrate on a given tasks and not be distracted.
    • Physical Ability to read and see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
    • Physical Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Associate and/or Bachelor’s degree and five years experience in a management role in the Automotive Industry, Logistic/Material Control, and/or a combination of relevant working experience and education in a related field.
