Visit our website at: www.leatherman.com The successful candidate for the Environmental Health & Safety Administrator will plan, coordinate, and implement environmental, health, and safety programs requiring application of engineering principles and technology to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, to reduce risk, control costs, analyze and ensure compliance throughout all business functions. Provide technical expertise to operating units to help evaluate risks and cost-effectively resolve health and safety issues, including recommendations from incident investigations, and internal and/or regulatory audits. Drive projects to evaluate, develop and implement policies, training, metrics, assessments and hazard controls to ensure regulatory compliance, risk and waste reduction and best management practices in regard to occupational safety, health and environmental rules, permits, regulations and standards. Serve on cross-functional teams, facilitate audits, develop safety procedures, lead and/or participate in incident investigations and safety training, interact with operations and maintenance and interface with external regulatory organizations. The ideal candidate must be able to: * Develop and maintain safety programs that adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and the elimination of industrial accidents. * Ensure regulatory compliance, communication and reporting (i.e. OSHA). * Support unit managers to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout organization. * Consult employees at all levels in technical areas such as industrial hygiene, safety, environmental, ergonomics, risk management, and compliance. * Conduct hazard evaluation and control. Perform analysis of equipment, processes, facilities, and communication in support of risk reduction. * Develop accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization. * Organize and conduct audits of facilities, work areas, and equipment to ensure compliance with organization, state, and federal safety regulations. Identify and implement corrective action plans and perform follow-up inspections. * Lead investigations and identify root cause of accidents, prepare reports with findings and corrective actions. * Write safety policies and procedures according to OSHA and State regulations. * Prepare and administer the safety training programs. Identify employee safety training and certification needs, develop materials and courses, present topics, identify and train instructors as needed, and maintain training records. * Conduct incident preparedness, response, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective measures, and tracking. * Maintain program records requiring metrics, documentation, and budget/cost savings. * Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents and report to business leaders. * Lead safety committee. * Develop and maintain environmental health programs consistent with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines and regulations, including environmental permit compliance such as DEQ: Waste Water, Storm Water, Hazardous Waste Generator/ Hazardous Materials, Fire Marshall. * Act as liaison with outside organizations such as fire departments and rescue teams to assure information exchange and mutual assistance. * Maintain inventories of safety equipment and PPE. * Contribute to waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability efforts. Experience and Education Requirements: * Bachelors degree in engineering, occupational safety, or other related fields. Associates Degree or equivalent technical certification and three years work experience driving safety initiatives may be substituted. * ASP (Associate Safety Professional) designation preferred. * Minimum of three years experience in Occupational Safety field in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience should include effective health and safety program development, implementation, management and oversight; hazard evaluations and investigations; regulatory compliance, and incident command systems. * Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements that comply with all local, state and federal regulations. Engage operations leadership to develop regulation-compliant processes with least impact to operations. * Familiarity with ANSI workplace safety standards preferred. * Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective actions. Physical Demands/Working Conditions/Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit; use hands to handle, grasp, or keyboard; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently stands or walks; occasionally climbs; bends, stoops or crouches; lifts; pushes/pulls; and talks and hears. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee regularly works in an office environment and is regularly exposed to production environment. Work area is well lit and air-conditioned. Employee may be asked to travel at times.
