    CNC Machinist Apprentice - 3rd shift # EDUCATION/PRIOR EXPERIENCE ·

    Top performer in their current job profile /role. · Have a desire to become a Machinist. · Successfully complete a three week on the jobinterview to be accepted into the apprenticeship. · Good working knowledge of shop math (Algebra,Geometry and Trigonometry). · Fluent in blueprint reading or successfullycomplete blueprint training onsite. · Basic computer skills to log time, or otheronline shop applications. · High School Diploma or GED required. # GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES · Learn to setup and operate CNC Mills and/orLathes or Manual Mills and/or Lathes. · Learn the responsibility of all facets of setupand inspection up to and including first piece inspection. · Maintain high productivity while producingquality parts. · Responsible for in process inspection and StatisticalProcess Control (SPC). · Make corrections as required to maintain qualityand production rates. SPECIFICRESPONSIBILITIES GAINED DURING APPRENTICESHIP · Perform set-up operations using tool sheets,manuscripts, sketches and blueprints. · Read and understand machining drawings. · Perform SPC and maintain all necessary recordsassociated with the parts and machines. · Maintain high productivity, change off sets asnecessary to maintain quality. · Deburr parts during the machine cycle. · Promptly report all tooling or program problemsto group leader or supervisor. · Use shop math in checking parts. · Perform preventive maintenance to the machines. · Maintain the machine within the scope of their ability. · Prove out new setups, read and interpret CNCprogram to recognize and make changes to rectify excessive tool wear and minorprogram oversights. · Read and understand all types of drawingsrequired to machine parts such as castings, forgings, detailed engineeringsketches. · Efficiently use shop math to solve forinformation required to machine and/or inspect machined parts, castings, orforgings. · Assist in the selection of tools, holdingfixtures and methods for producing machined parts. · Builds prototypes interfacing with Engineeringand Programming. · Trains coworkers in a patient and positivemanner. · Identifies new ways to machine parts to improvequality and productivity. · Maintains all paperwork associated withproducing the part and maintaining company records. # GENERAL INFORMATION This job description inno way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
