  • Responsibilities

    As the FOLDING CARTON SUPERVISOR with LIBERTY PACKAGING PHOENIX, you will be responsible for supervising direct reports and coordinating the activities of production on a printing press, die cutter, and gluer in the folding carton department. Work directly with internal departments to purchase raw materials, schedule production, and deliver finished products based on customer expectations.

    This full-time position reports directly to the PLANT MANAGER and is located at Liberty Packaging’s manufacturing plant in Phoenix, Arizona.

    Required Skills

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

    • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the folding, die cutting, gluing, and packing activities of the production department.
    • Manage, coach, and provide training for the development of direct reports in the folding carton department and assist with helping the overall team build good training methodologies for successful outcomes.
    • Read, analyze, and streamline work orders/jobs so that the work can be produced in a safe, quality, and efficient manner.
    • Determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs based on designed targets and the creation of open capacity.
    • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly deliverables.
    • Confer with other supervisors and production management to coordinate operational needs, and activities between departments.
    • Plan and establish work schedules, plan vacations, and assign overtime if needed
    • Approve direct reports working hours in ADP
    • Assist with estimating
    • Troubleshoot and help solve machinery problems
    • Manage maintenance needs for the department, by entering work orders and working with maintenance and the plant manager to plan repairs and PMs.
    • Develop a plan to make department cross-functional at all positions.
    • Follow all company safety requirements
    • Comply with all company EHS, quality rules and regulations

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • 3 to 5 years folding carton experience as a supervisor/manager
    • Knowledge of estimating, ordering of raw materials, type of gauges/calipers of paper for printing, cold/hot glue, sensors, printing, die cutting, and gluing
    • Understanding of product flow
    • Technical background on folding carton printing, die cut, and gluing presses
    • Proficient in Microsoft suite
    • Six Sigma/lean manufacturing a plus
