    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Maintenance Lead at Certain Teed Gypsum provides effective leadership for maintenance activities, overseeing day-to-day operations, leading a shift/crew, and ensuring plant reliability. The role involves hands-on supervision of maintenance tasks, covering both mechanical and electrical aspects. Additionally, the Maintenance Lead leads improvement projects, manages work order distribution, and ensures efficient completion and documentation by technicians.

    • Responsible for manpower utilization by ensuring all work orders are filled out in their entirety to include technician time, parts used, and follow-up notifications generated.
    • Utilize a cross-functional collaborative approach to coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to minimize plant downtime and maximize safety.
    • Ensure planned and unplanned repair items are accomplished promptly and are to a World Class standard of quality
    • Manage outside contractors as necessary.
    • Be a champion of and spread the use of WCM tools within the area of responsibility.
    • Support WCM teams in the development of Professional Maintenance implementation and sustainability.
    • Champion and drive the use of 5S in the maintenance area of responsibility
    • Develop maintenance technicians to secure competencies, assess the performance, and flexibility of employees within the department, and initiate appropriate training, counseling, or corrective action to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the employee

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Development of detailed tasks
    • Maintains various departmental records, files, and reports
    • Other duties as assigned by the maintenance manager

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Works manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, temperature changes, and noise. A minimum of 40 hours per week, additional hours determined by workflow and project demand, and the plant is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation.

    Required Qualifications

    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Requires High School Diploma
    • One to three years of supervisory experience which will provide a thorough knowledge of the skills utilized in maintenance activities.
    • Core competencies include a passion for detail, effective verbal, and written communication skills, teaming skills, listening skills, the ability to organize and retrieve information, and to handle people tactfully and effectively in situations involving various educational and employment levels.
    • Requires industrial maintenance experience in an Industrial Environment
    • Requires proficient typing skills and to be comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook/e-mail. Must be able to learn and effectively use local business systems and CMMS systems.
    • Must be flexible to adapt to changing and varying work requirements.

    Additional Description

    PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience with 5S, WCM methodology, conditioned-based maintenance techniques, and lean manufacturing.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Must be able to spend a significant amount of time on the plant floor. The job requires bending, stooping, climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain, and infrequent lifting. Must be able to wear mandated personal protective equipment per areas accessed.
