INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

Engineering Interns are placed at an Owens Corning manufacturing plant for approximately 12 weeks during the summer term. Throughout this time, the participant is mentored by seasoned technical professionals and completes assigned project work. Projects will provide participants with direct experience on the technical challenges found in the manufacturing setting and will be in the areas of:

• Safety leadership
• Process and product improvement
• Productivity increases
• Waste elimination
• Total Productive Maintenance

In addition, the participant will be expected to develop the following competencies essential to be an effective manufacturing engineer:

• Independence and initiative
• Works effectively and cooperatively with others
• Elevates performance of self and others
• Builds rapport for success

Outstanding participants may be offered full-time employment in one of Owens Corning’s Operations Leadership Development Programs at the conclusion of their experience, to commence following graduation.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, Materials Science, or an equivalent field from an accredited school
• Previous relevant internships/co-ops in a manufacturing setting
• Demonstrated leadership in professional, service, or social organizations
• Willingness and flexibility to relocate
