    DEFENSE PURCHASING TEAM:

    Defense Purchasing team is accountable for ensuring the quality and delivery of products supplied in North America to our defense manufacturing and assembly plants. The Defense business is currently embarking on a Decade of Growth with exciting new business but first we have to Deliver Today to Win Tomorrow. MEs in the Defense Purchasing team lead the technical development of the supplier to ensure the component method of manufacture is both stable and capable and ensures the flow down of regulatory and product integrity requirements.

    Defense Purchasing is broken down into several cross-functional supplier management teams which are accountable for the delivery and quality of a deck of suppliers. As an integral part of the supplier management team, the graduate would report directly to a manufacturing engineering technical lead or manufacturing engineering manager.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    The Manufacturing Engineer - Purchasing leads the technical development of the supplier to ensure the component method of manufacture is both stable and capable and ensures the flow down of regulatory and product integrity requirements.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensuring product integrity for component or system is delivered through alignment of method of manufacture with design intent

    • Influencing commodity strategies and sourcing decisions with technical knowledge

    • Ensuring method of manufacture for new components are developed which meet the customers' requirements for quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness, and ensuring the level of performance is sustainable

    • Validating the supplier’s method of manufacture and capability, through deployment of Advanced Product Qualtiy Planning (APQP), Production Product Approval Process (PPAP) & First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) processes

    • Approving component airworthiness through the processing of critical data associated with component definition, associated specifications, and compliance to Rolls-Royce procedures

    • Educating and coaching suppliers in the application of relevant specifications and Supplier Advanced Business Relationship (SABRe) supplier management system requirements.

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

    Candidates will have strong demonstrations of the following:

    • Project management skills

    • Flexibility with a hybrid work environment

    • An understanding of manufacturing processes of aerospace components.

    • Ability to take initiative/self-directed

    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (BUT NOT REQUIRED):

    • Project management experience working in a supply chain organization

    • Working with multiple customers or suppliers simultaneously

    • Experience with or exposure to structured problem solving methodologies

    RELEVANT MAJORS:

    Attending an accredited college/university working towards a bachelor’s degree at minimum:

    • Industrial Engineering/or Technology

    • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering/ Technology

    • Aerospace Engineering

    MINIMUM GPA: 3.0
