The position involves a multitude of tasks designed to give each intern a basic overall understanding of the midstream energy sector. The internship gives interns the opportunity to work for different supervisors throughout the summer, take on various projects and complete agreed-upon learning objectives. This opportunity will connect you to a company that is in a growing industry sector and is often seeking individuals with relevant experience, provide hands-on experience and expose you to business processes that have earned MarkWest the highest customer service rating for Natural Gas Midstream services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: As an intern youll work with financial professionals and project managers and gain invaluable exposure to a range of accounting careers. Responsibilities may include, in part: -Preparing recurring journal entries -Setting up capital projects in the project accounting module -Assisting in the preparation of monthly account reconciliations, statement presentation and variance analysis -Updating master data in information system -Assisting with upgrading spreadsheet formats and controls -Identifying contracts that have been terminated and completing the paperwork to move the files to off-site storage DEPARTMENTAL CORE COMPETENCIES: Employees in this position will be required to demonstrate the following job-related competencies in performance of the role: -Customer Focus -Professionalism -Adaptability -Results Oriented -Self-Development SUPERVISORY DUTIES: No JOB QUALIFICATIONS: -Candidates must be pursing an Accounting major -Candidates must have completed at least their junior year by the time the internship begins -Candidates must have completed an Intermediate Accounting course by the time the internship begins -Candidates must upload the following 3 documents as 1 PDF -Resume -A letter of introduction and intent (What do you hope to get out of the internship? WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Demands: Requires sitting throughout most of the day, interspersed with short trips throughout the office. Working Environment: Primarily in an office environment.
