POSITION SUMMARY: The Processing Operator role provides Mars Food Greenville with the knowledge and skills to safely and efficiently test, analyze and convert a raw material into a high quality finished product. This process supports the packaging of high quality rice products that meets all specifications set by Mars Food US in the amount and schedule required by business needs. The position will specialize in learning all operational aspects of equipment in the area. Convenience Operators must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support site objectives. They are also responsible for sanitation in the area in order to provide a clean, safe, orderly environment that exemplifies a world class manufacturing facility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Sampling of all incoming raw materials * Visually inspect incoming commodities and take appropriate action on issues such as infestation, pests, mold, or any other quality issue * Perform required quality testing * Lab equipment operation * Quality systems database interfacing * Ensure adherence to all site food safety and security practices * Actively address food safety and quality concerns. * Meet ton and yield requirements * Maintain a clean and safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity * Improve operations through individual and group problem solving * Other duties as assigned OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: * Participate in site Continuous Improvement groups as appropriate. * Train other area associates in operation of area * Submit work orders as required. * Perform operator PMs EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: * High School Diploma or equivalent plus 1-2 years experience (manufacturing environment preferred). * Good math, reading, writing skills and ability to set bin strategies. * Good communication skills * Ability to learn how to operate Q.S. Analytical Test equipment. * High level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge, with good skills in troubleshooting and problem solving. * Excellent housekeeping skills and knowledge of GMP's. * Good knowledge of personal computers. * Ability and willingness to develop, demonstrate self directed workgroup leadership and contribute to efficiency, quality and cost optimization with minimal supervision and a positive attitude. * Ability to lift 50 lbs. * Ability to work rotating shifts under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and /or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs and do repetitive bending and twisting. * Ability to work around pressurized steam in a safe manner. * Hearing and speaking ability both in person and on the phone.
