    SUMMARY – BASIC FUNCTION OF THE ROLE

    Selected individual will manage their own operating unit within the plant ensuring customer shipments are meeting timely demand. Lead product cell team to success though driving assembly and production in a fashion that meets our facility’s 4 KPIs: safety, quality, delivery, and cost.   Oversee implementation of CI initiatives with a constant lens of increasing plant throughput/efficiency levels.  Empower and motivate a large hourly and salaried workforce toward meeting production metrics to ensure our standard of world class industrial tools is upheld.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Deliver and drive the operating unit team to meet production goals as they relate to plant level goals in areas of safety, delivery, quality, and cost.
    2. Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing best in class Lean Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management techniques and practices.
    3. Drive and motivate the operating unit team to success as they plan, schedule and assemble product to meet customer demand.
    4. Oversee each cell to ensure adherence to Work Instructions, BOM, ECMs, 5S, etc to ensure world class products are being built.
    5. Ensure personnel polices and procedures are applied fairly and consistently for all team members. Approve and manage hourly employees’ time.

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES - identify the ALE competencies that are most critical for success in the role

    1. Strong leadership skills with an affinity toward motivating a large hourly workforce. Oversee up to 40 hourly and salaried employees.
    2. Professional verbal and written communication style to enhance Cell performance.
    3. Ability to identify, develop, and retain talented people.
    4. Foster a one team environment displaying the confidence and courage to deliver difficult messages and change initiatives.
    5. Working knowledge of Oracle applications is desired.
    6. Ability to adapt to situations as needed to potential unscheduled interruptions in workflow.
    7. Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Four-year degree in business, operations or other technical field preferred. 

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Four years of experience as a manager/supervisor, or relevant equivalent experience, in a manufacturing environment; Knowledge of Lean concepts/application is a plus.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 25 pounds in weight. Continuously moving throughout the facility as needed. Position may require travel up to 10% of time depending on assigned projects. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Primary work environment is a manufacturing floor but will also be required to be in manufacturing facilities and to follow appropriate safety protocols at the location. Employee is exposed to elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
