Candidates for this position must be well versed in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). In this position you will be responsible for supporting design of MES customizations, implementing and supporting validation of MES customizations. Work will be performed on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. You will need to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Plus, you will network with key contacts outside own area of expertise. A Day in the Life The MES Systems Engineer will work under limited supervision and will be expected to play an active role in working with Operations and Engineering users to gather and identify business requirements and use-cases to support designing of new IT system enhancements Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Work with Operations and engineers as system expert to provide inputs/recommendations on system level solutions to support business needs Responsible for supporting MES factory modeling and design. Work with IT in designing and testing for MES system enhancements and customizations/ Work with Operations and engineering users to gather and identify business requirements and use-cases Collaborate with developers to translate business requirements and use-cases into system requirements Work with Product Development team on system enhancements needed to support the introduction of new manufacturing processes/products Analyze product and compliance requirements and work with system software developers to ensure system design/functions meet all requirements Create system test plan and test cases; execute test cases and document test results to support system validation activities Work with Medtronic IT group on system enhancement requirements to support business needs. Work with IT to create User Acceptance Test plan for testing new MES functions. Execute test plan and document test results Manage project schedule and milestones to ensure project delivery Review department specifications and process documentation to ensure compliance with FDA regulations and Medtronic internal quality policies Assists with system application usability assessments. Participates in interdisciplinary discussions. Creates innovative solutions that provide the Company with a competitive advantage. Thoughtfully counsels and provides high impact advice. Complies with all design-related standards developed by external regulatory groups. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Provides technical expertise for system functional specifications and deploys new and current systems, processes and procedures in a cost effective manner. May configure system settings and options; plan and execute unit, system, and integration testing to meet business requirements. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues. Must Have: Minimum Qualifications To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant engineering discipline and 2+ years of Camstar MES experience in a manufacturing environment. Nice to Have: Exceptionally qualified candidates will have: Strong knowledge of MES (Camstar) or other MES systems Camstar modeling experience Enterprise validation experience Software validation experience Working knowledge of ERP systems such as QAD Ability to write conversion specifications, functional specifications, and technical specifications for adding functionality or enhancements Demonstrated project management experience leading cross functional teams in implementing system enhancements and process improvements Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand end-user needs/requirements and translate to IT systems requirements.
