    Job Description

    Avery Dennsion is seeking a Team Manager to join the Mentor Distribution Center Team in Mentor, Ohio. The Mentor DC Team Manager plays an integral role in our Operations. Reporting directly to the Sr. Warehouse Manager, this individual has responsibilities for all operations of the Mentor Distribution Center. Areas of responsibility include shipping and receiving processes, inventory accuracy, transactional accuracy and full Warehouse operating functions.

    The successful candidate will be an energetic leader with the ability to continuously train, develop, motivate and coach team members. The Mentor DC Team Manager will provide front-line leadership and direction for Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, Cost Reduction and People objectives within the facility while meeting internal and external customer needs. As part of our team, this individual will operate under general guidance from Plant Leadership to ensure execution of daily operational efficiencies, implementation of key business objectives and leadership of key people initiatives.

    In your role as Mentor DC Team Manager delivering on the following responsibilities is critical to success:

    • Provide vision and direction to increase organizational capability and deliver process excellence on a consistent basis.

    • Provide daily leadership to instill and reinforce an injury-free workplace and environmental compliance. Through regarding safety as a core value: Lead the efforts to create a safety conscious environment with being actively involved.

    • Perform general management duties, exercising usual authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, promotions and terminations.

    • Act as a team role model and change-agent while promoting the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values

    • Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.

    • Responsible for key operational measures within the business unit (service, quality, productivity, cost, safety); able to measure performance of team against performance targets and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

    • Collaborate with other functional areas to resolve problems and develop improved manufacturing processes.

    • Maintain all timekeeping, overtime and vacation records and schedules.

    • Measure performance of the team against performance targets and provide feedback for improvement.

    • Respond to and correct material flow issues.

    • Handle staffing to economically meet business requirements and create cross training opportunities.

    • Train and provide development opportunities for staff while motivating/coaching/developing team members.. Ensure annual goals are complete and communicated.

    • Ensure Performance Review system is up to date and regular feedback is provided to staff members.

    • Responsible for development of staff, estimating resource/labor needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies..

    • Collaborate with the Training Team to help develop and maintain a defined training process with the creation of accurate training documents for the Mentor Distribution Center facility.

    • Provide leadership for improvement activities including Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS).

    • Lead initiatives to identify and reduce manufacturing waste and process complexity through leading 5S activities, housekeeping, and recycling programs.

    • Assist and support inventory cycle count processes required to ensure transactional accuracy

    • Ensure inventory accuracy through consistent cycle counting throughout the warehouse.

    • Schedule, plan and support PI (physical inventory) processes as required.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics Management, or other relevant degree (or working toward degree) - Preferred

    • 5+ years progressive people or project leadership experience in a Manufacturing or Shipping and Receiving role.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop a diverse team of individuals performing a variety of tasks required.

    • Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to build relationships with all functions and levels of the organization.

    • Flexibility and willingness to initiate change from an operational, business and even a work schedule/ location perspective to meet OGSM commitments

    • Strong customer focus, communication, planning and coordination skills - ability to proactively identify and meet customer needs.

    • Familiarity with process documentation and improvement.

    • Strong understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Excel/Google Suite and business systems (OTM, Oracle, Oracle BI, MES, Fastrack).

    • Ability to think ahead, anticipate problems, make decisions and take appropriate action when working with all levels of management and employees.

    • Skilled in improvement, design, documenting and implementing operational strategies for safety, cost, quality, training, inventory and services.

    • Skilled in analyzing and drawing information for daily operational needs through utilizing the ELS Operating Principles and improvement for the team.

    • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

    • Ability to work with others in a team environment. Actively promote collaboration & teamwork and resolve conflicts.

    • Additional duties as assigned.

    Additional Information

    The salary range for this position is $77,475- $103,300/ year.

    The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
