As a postdoctoral fellow in MRL Infectious Diseases/Vaccine Early Discovery, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists from vaccine discovery, bioinformatics and pharmacology to conceive, design, and implement experiments to advance vaccine development. You will focus on identifying and characterizing long-lived plasma cells in predicting vaccine responses/durability using animal models. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Conducting ex vivo cell culture experiments and analysis using a variety of techniques including but not limited to: isolation of cells from bone marrow and PBMCs, multi-parameter flow cytometry, cell sorting, ELISPOT, ELISA, Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, single cell RNAseq. -Collaborating with Merck scientists to get tissue samples from pre-clinical animal models as well as to learn new techniques. -Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication and presentation of results. mrlpostdoc Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: -A PhD in Immunology, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases or a related field with less than (3) years of postdoctoral experience OR graduating with a PhD by summer of 2019.Required Experience and Skills: -Multi-parameter flow cytometry. -Isolation and culture of primary cells. -Experience in: B cell Immunology, T cell Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Vaccines or Autoimmune Diseases. -Independent and self-motivated. -Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Experience and Skills: -Molecular biology experience. -Ability to design experiments, interpret and track result. -Strong history of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
