As a postdoctoral fellow in the Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences Department (BARDS), MRL based in PA/NJ, you will work with a multi-disciplinary and highly collaborative team of statisticians and scientists to develop novel statistical methods and related software for pharmacogenomics (PGx) biomarker discovery and confirmation, patient segmentation and transform PGx discoveries into clinical practice. This work will deliver significant benefits, including maximal possibility of finding drug efficacy and safety predictors in a timely manner, more reliable patient segmentation strategies for clinical trials, and shortened timelines for go/no-go decisions related to the development of companion or complementary diagnostics, with tangible benefits for patients, providers, and payers, and for Merck. The postdoctoral tenure is up to 3 years. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Conducting independent statistical methodology research to develop innovative statistical methods for PGx biomarker discovery/confirmation and patient segmentation. -Application of the developed methods to clinical trial datasets. -Development of computation and reporting tools to implement the developed methods (e.g. R package and reporting templates). -Manuscript preparation, publication and presentation of results. mrlpostdoc Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: -A PhD in statistics, biostatistics or related discipline with less than (3) years of postdoctoral experience OR graduating with a PhD by summer of 2019.Required Experience and Skills: -Solid knowledge of statistical theory and methodologies. -Proficient in R programming. -Familiar with cluster computing environment. -Excellent written and oral communication skills. -Demonstrated as an independent and self-motivated researcher with prior publications in peer-reviewed statistical journals. Preferred Experience and Skills: -Strong background in statistical genetics; familiar with methods and tools used in GWAS/ WES/WGS analysis. -Strong knowledge in machine learning methods (e.g. random forests; deep learning; neural networks etc). -With experience of previously publishing and maintaining R package(s). -Ability to collaborate with statisticians, scientists and effectively work on multi-disciplinary teams.
