As a postdoctoral fellow in Merck Research Labs Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Drug Metabolism ADME group based in Kenilworth, NJ, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists in a state-of-the-art laboratory to design and develop in vitro models to study the intracellular exposure of therapeutic peptide analogs (macrocycles, linear peptides and CPPs). This work will enable understanding of the role of metabolism as a limiting factor for intracellular exposure of cell permeable peptides. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Conducting in vitro metabolism and cell permeability experiments with peptides using various subcellular fractions and cell-based assays. -Peptide metabolite analysis. -Collaborating with Merck scientists to develop models to analyze intracellular exposure of peptides as a function of metabolism and permeability. -Data interpretation, manuscript preparation and publication, and presentation of results at internal and external meetings. -Contribute to a safe and compliant laboratory work environment.mrlpostdoc Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: -A PhD with less than (3) years of postdoctoral experience OR graduating with a PhD by summer of 2019.Required Experience and Skills: -Ability to conduct in vitro assays using cell-free and cell culture systems. -Strong knowledge and expertise in cell biology experimentation. -Prior experience with cell permeable peptides. -A strong publication track record. -Must be an independent and self-motivated scientist.Preferred Experience and Skills: -Expertise or an interest in learning peptide analysis by LC-MS/MS and/or HRMS techniques. -Experience in studying peptide metabolism in vitro and in vivo, and the enzymes involved. -Understanding of peptide chemistry.
