This internship position will work directly with the Maintenance/Utility Department and in conjunction with the Engineering Department. Primary role will be to work with both utility and production equipment and gain a general understanding in facility and manufacturing maintenance and engineering. Projects and tasks will be assigned based on skill level and ability. -Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of De Soto facilities, operations, and personnel. -Intern will be involved in several ongoing projects for streamlining operations and maximizing results. -This position will involve direct communication and collaboration with multiple departments and vendors. -Intern will be exposed to all aspects of biotechnology plant site operations including Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices environments. -Comprehensive training will be provided on departmental software which includes SAP Preventative Maintenance and Siemens Insight Building Management software. -Work with minimum supervision, excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills required. -Responsible for learning and adhering to all Merck Safety, Health, Environmental, GMP and regulatory requirements (as required by task). This is a full- time internship position. Housing subsidy is not available as part of this program and must be funded 100% by the student.Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: -Candidates must be currently enrolled and will have completed junior year in a 4-year Bachelor of Engineering program Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biotechnology OR related field.
