As a postdoctoral fellow in Merck Research Labs, Department of Discovery Oncology, based in Palo Alto CA, you will work in a highly collaborative environment with a team of scientists to design, develop, and validate in vivo/in vitro models to investigate interactions between tumor stroma/vasculature and immune system. The results from this work will improve our understanding of tumor microenvironment in establishing and survival of tumors, particularly in the context of immunology. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Disassociating and characterizing cellular components of fresh tumor biopsies from humans and animal models. -Conducting in vitro/cell culture experiments and analyses using standard molecular biology techniques including ELISA, high dimension multi-color flow cytometry, and mRNA profiling. -Conducting in vivo murine tumor model studies to correlate and validate in vitro results. -Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication and data presentation. -Contributing to a friendly, safe, and compliant laboratory work environment. mrlpostdoc Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: -A PhD with less than (3) years of postdoctoral experience OR graduating with a PhD by summer of 2019.Required Experience and Skills: -Isolation and culture of primary immune/stromal cells from freshly isolated human or murine tissues. -Skilled in in vivo murine models in immunology and/or tumor immunology. -Strong interpersonal skills that enable and facilitate collaboration with various groups in Merck Research Labs. -Ability to conceive, design, execute and communicate complex experiments in the field of immunology and/or tumor immunology as evidenced by publications Preferred Experience and Skills: -Knowledge of both human and murine immunology. -Experience in studying endothelial cells and vasculatures. -Experience studying lymphocyte trafficking and homing. -Experience with three dimensional tissue culture models. -Bioinformatics experience, particularly in analyzing RNA-seq results and pathway analyses.
