As a postdoctoral fellow in Merck Research Labs Sterile Formulation Sciences based in Kenilworth, NJ, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists and engineers to design, develop and validate techniques to ultrasonically assist the delivery of small and large molecule therapeutics with a target for hard to treat tumors. The objective of this project will be to develop and characterize sonoporation stimulation techniques in order to improve the distribution and absorption of our co-formulation/ co-administrations for molecules targeting various biological mechanisms with specific focus on (1) enabling enhanced dense tumor penetration, (2) addressing visceral tumor metastasis in concert with systemic administration, and (3) treating surgically non-resectable tumors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Literature and technical review of sonoporation techniques for application to oncology. -Application of ultrasound and investigation of cavitation efficacy and impact to cells and tissue. -Formulation approaches and large molecule characterization for ultrasound drug delivery. -Biological evaluation on the impact of ultrasound as it applies to co-formulation/ co-administrations of molecules targeting various biological mechanisms Collaborating with Merck and external scientists conducting in vivo cancer model studies to correlate and validate the in vitro models. -Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication and presentation of results. -Contribute to a safe and compliant laboratory work environment. mrlpostdoc Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: -A PhD with less than (3) years of postdoctoral experience OR graduating with a PhD by summer of 2019. Required Experience and Skills: -Experience with sonoporation/ultrasound. -Biophysical characterization of large molecules. -Diffusion cell apparatus setup and characterization techniques (e.g. Franz).Preferred Experience and Skills: -Fluid mechanics / dynamics of cavitation. -Tumor staining and characterization. -Experience studying cancer-associated fibroblasts. -Experience with three dimensional tissue culture models.
