As a postdoctoral fellow in Merck Research Labs Process Research & Development in Kenilworth, NJ, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists and engineers to design and develop high throughput tools to identify biomarkers for cell culture process development to support Mercks biologic production platforms. This work will enable the identification of the important genetic and phenotypic fingerprints that necessitate a seamless and successful process improvement changes during process development, across different modalities. This study is a critical part of the efforts to establish Merck as the industry leader in next generation biologic manufacturing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Independently design and conduct cell culture experiments and analysis using a variety of analytical instrument and techniques -Systematically and scientifically characterize different cell cultures (clones) to improve process development and understanding -Proactively collaborate with interdisciplinary Merck and external scientists for study design, execution and data analysis -Promote, create and implement innovative ideas for cell line and cell culture process development -Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication and presentation of results -Contribute to a safe and compliant laboratory work environment mrlpostdoc Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: -A PhD in biological sciences, chemical engineering or related fields with less than (3) years of postdoctoral experience OR graduating with a PhD by summer of 2019.Required Experience and Skills: -Experience with cell culture aseptic technique, assays and general laboratory practices -Proven ability to design and execute cell culture experiment independently from protein expression to different cell culture scales including shaker flasks and/or bioreactor -Experience with statistical data analysis tools such as design of experiment and multivariate data analysis -Proven records of scientific publication and communication with excellent oral and written skills -Strong passion and commitment to integrate science to biologic process development Preferred Experience and Skills: -Knowledge and experience of using genetic and phenotypic tools/methods for mammalian cell line characterization -Experience with high throughput cell culture technique and automation -Expertise in system biology and other bioanalytical techniques such as flow cytometry, microscopy, biochemical assays and cell functional assays is also desirableYour role at Merck is integral to helping the world meet new breakthroughs that affect generations to come, and were counting on your skills and inventiveness to help make meaningful contributions to global medical advancement.
