    JOB OBJECTIVE/FUNCTION: To assure that product conforms to engineering requirements and that manufacturing processes are in control and capable. To support manufacturing in the pursuit of quality improvement. To maintain a clean, well organized, and safe work area. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • FINAL INSPECTION:NONCONFORMING MATERIAL REVIEW:Review and obtain disposition of non-conformance material generated in the machining process. Write scrap tickets or key into CRT for an on-line system for all machine and vendor related non-conformance defects, also generate non-conformance material notification for all vendor related non-conformance material. Inspect and measure parts, as specified on final inspection instruction sheets. Record data, report problems, identify and separate defectives, process deviated material. Prepare daily reject and scrap reports. Quality Technicians assigned to the laboratory must complete Quality Laboratory Training (QLT) that covers basic chemistry, safe handling of chemicals in the laboratory, and storage of chemicals and reagents (including acids and bases). • ASSEMBLY SUPPORT: Record data, report problems, identify and separate non-conformances as required. Sign off set-up sheets. Provide quality systems as needed. • HIGH-SPEED DYNAMOMETER:Record test results in the designated forms and report all rejected lots to QA Supervisor. Test lining mix batch samples submitted by manufacturing on high-speed diameter.  • STATISTICAL DATA COLLECTION:Totally responsible for tracking and closing the corrective action system. Totally responsible for tracking and closing corrective action loop and conducting ongoing process evaluations. Ability to operate the optical comparator and set up and use datamyte system. Perform gaga repeatability/productivity studies. Measure component parts with variable gaging, record data, perform necessary calculations to generate statistical parameters. Report CP and CPK indices to reflect process capability and centering. Detect, analyze, and report any nonconforming situations. Report out of control situations via the corrective action system. • RECEIVING INSPECTION: Inspect dimensional and/or metallurgical characteristics as required on receiving inspection record card. Draw the proper random sample per the “Rockwell Sampling Plan” or other approved sampling plan. Record data, perform necessary calculations and file and/or distribute reports as required by QA Supervisor. Notify and generate a corresponding defective material notification. Obtain specifications from drawing for characteristics to be inspected. Check product dimensional characteristics with variable and attribute gages and perform metallurgical evaluation when required. Must develop a high level of expertise in the use of all types of gaging including “Rockwell Hardness Tester” and Chatillion Spring Tester. Must learn to operate surface grinder and cut off saw. Must learn to input information on the computer. • GAGE ROOM: Inspect and calibrate all new and repaired gaging upon receipt into a plant. Assign gage numbers and mark gages accordingly. Operate the computerized gage control system. Assure that gages are in a state of calibration when turned into gage room and before they are returned to their home location in Gage Crib. Perform periodic gage recall, calibration, and certification of measuring and test equipment as determined by the G.C.S. system.. Make repairs to dial indicators, etc. And perform gage repeatability/reproducibility studies. Generate purchase and repair requisitions for gage repair. Responsibilities: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO; • Work on all skills until a high level of proficiency is reached and work from written and verbal instructions. • Interface with supervisors, production technicians, and other technical personnel as necessary. • Assist in the development of operator process control by supporting the production technicians in their use of control charts. • Be an effective team member and assist others within the department when needed • Maintain excellent housekeeping daily and follow all safety rules • Become proficient in the use of personal computer software. Qualifications: The successful candidate will be required to meet the following physical and mental demands: • Standing, bending, lifting, stooping, and walking • Forklift Driving • Operate complex gaging, exercise basic mathematics and trigonometry, principles of probability and statistics, in-depth blueprint reading. • Knowledge of machine tool operations. • Data collection and record keeping via manual and/or computer. • Work occasionally in coolant, water, oils, metal chips, and dust from grinding. Compensation: $38,000 - $42,000 yearly
