Mechanical Engineer Location: Wilmington, MA Job Category: Engineering Employment Classification: Full Time Description Position Summary: The primary role is to perform mechanical design and testing for all phases of engineering product development. Tasks will include new product and technology development, product improvements and cost reductions, transitioning from development to production environment. Position Details: Design highly reliable products with cost, reliability, serviceability and manufacturability in mind Ensure adequate design margins through validation testing Perform tests on prototypes to demonstrate that product specifications are met Design test fixtures and equipment Prepare test and diagnostic programs Set up and run computer automated experiments Complete data reduction and evaluate results to make recommendation on next steps Support existing released products: root cause failure analysis, redesign for cost reduction Complete documentation of designs conforming to MKS documentation standards including: detail and assembly drawings, BOMs, design review presentations, and test reports Apply best practices for material selection, design trades, and tolerance studies Supports scientific/engineering activities in the laboratories Interface with product engineering and cross-functional teams as required Identify and troubleshoot problems in new product prototypes Requirements: BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 0 - 2 years of experience in mechanical design 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks) Hands-on skills in a laboratory environment Experience with high voltage, gas, water and safety is a plus Comfortable with mechanical and electrical hardware Experience in the design of products using vacuum systems and/or power electronics preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills
