    As Mueller Water Products’ SALES & MARKETING ANALYST, your primary responsibilities will be the hands-on development of organizational wide sales reporting, perform regular economic sales analysis, and provide daily support to sales leaders. 

    This position has a strong emphasis on data mining, development of reporting tools and execution of process improvements within our commercial operations.  You will be the subject matter expert on our products, pricing and end-markets.  You will be expected to assist in improving our forecasting tools, create relevant/impactful market intelligence and provide daily managerial support to the company’s sales leaders.  You will be expected to form relationships with all 100+ members of the sales team and distribute sales reporting to the organization on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis.  The position requires strong mathematical and analytical competencies, proficiencies in data extraction and data analysis, and the ability to provide in-depth analysis around pricing, product mix, volume drivers, changes to margin, new products, customer profitability, etc.  As our company grows, this position will be responsible for determining new business unit reporting requirements, migrating data into our sales reporting platforms, and assist with the onboarding new business units into our forecasting process. 

    You will be the lead data administrator of our sales commission progam, manage the implementation of this program company wide, monitor monthly data exceptions to the program, support HR and payroll teams from an analytical perspective, and provide general support to all stakeholders.  Lastly, you will enhance the company’s understanding of its external markets and provide quarterly updates on market trends and the external economics impacting the business.  You will assist in developing research around large national homebuilders and the nation’s largest municipalities, project long-term growth using driver-based growth models, and serve as the primary contact for economic resources external to the company.

    MAJOR AREAS OF PARTICIPATION, RESPONSIBILITY AND OVERSIGHT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

    • Assessing the sales reporting needs of the enterprise by business unit and gathering reporting requirements to meet those needs.
    • Performing data quality tests and distribution of daily, monthly and quarterly reporting to stakeholders with an efficient use of reporting tools available (JDE, SQL reporting services, OLAP cubes, etc.).
    • Ensuring sales data and sales reporting alignment between internal systems and departments.
    • Serving as subject matter expert on sales and economic data extraction from internal systems, as well as data sources external to the company (US Census, FRED, IHS, etc.).
    • Managing the rollout of sales reporting environment changes and development of implementation plans.
    • Developing “Water Department” Market Intelligence in the top 100 MSAs.
    • Developing more and better market intelligence for leak detection and AMI metering systems.
    • Utilizing market research resources (Bluefield Research, IHS, Zelman, etc.).
    • Understanding of construction trends, including land development.
    • Responding to the daily needs of the sales and finance departments.
    • Other cross-functional duties may be assigned from time to time.

     

    STRONG CANDIDATES MUST BRING THE FOLLOWING PREREQUISITES TO THE TABLE:

    • Background in accounting, finance or sales analysis.
    • Experience in report writing and data warehouse development.
    • Experience working in “big data” environments and report writing to create extensive catalog of greenfield sales and marketing reporting decks.
    • Strong data mining skills utilizing MS Excel.
    • Experienced at aligning processes, measurements and business objectives, often across many business units and departments, while removing waste from key processes and leveraging technology.
    • Experienced with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and other technology-based productivity tools (i-Squared, Salesforce.com, NetSuite, OnContact, Maximizer).
    • Experienced with SQL Server Analysis Services or similar reporting tool.
    • High-level of outgoing interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where a premium is placed on speed and accuracy.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
    • Ability to work independently of supervision and quickly adapt to changing priorities.
    • Strong time management and project management skills.
    • Bachelor's Degree in the fields of Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or similar degree with significant emphasis on data analytics.
    • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
    • Ability to travel up to 30%.

    • Business-related Post Graduate Degree.
    • Prior experience in working in data development environment.
    • Prior experience in working with a large sales organization.
