    This position is a paid internship for a college student currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or another related field. The duration of this internship is expected to be between 3-6 months beginning in June 2020, with the possibility for extension based on business need. Candidate will provide technical support for personal computers, peripherals (keyboard, mouse, docking station and printers), desktop software (Microsoft Office suite) and network connectivity. Tasks may include installing software, installing hardware resources for various purposes, moving equipment and performing routine maintenance and functions.  Candidate may also assist with network engineering and network maintenance. This position will provide entry level support to the Mueller Water Products corporate IT department and its user community. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY.   

     

    Tasks include:

    • Perform service desk (help desk) functions including call answering
    • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software incidents
    • Respond to incident requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically
    • Install software/hardware
    • Clean, modify and repair computer hardware including monitors, keyboard/Mouse and printers
    • Follow standard service desk procedures
    • Track and route incidents; document resolutions
    • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention
    • Work closely with others to complete a task
    • Redirect problems to appropriate resource
    • Learn to become a liaison between IT professionals and end user

     

    Required Skills:

    • Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software and hardware equipment (i.e. Microsoft Windows operating systems, Dell hardware, and Cisco network equipment).
    • Currently enrolled in or graduate of a degree program in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related area.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Must be self-driven and able to accomplish entry-level troubleshooting tasks.
    • Part-time position 20-30 hours per week.
    • Microsoft or other industry certifications are a plus.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Well organized with good time management skills.
    • Strong customer focus.
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • Knowledge of Active Directory (Users, Groups)
    • Office 365 knowledge
    • Previous experience troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 7 and 10
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Bomgar remote management software and Amazon Chime
