Machine Tool Builders work as part of a team, typically 2-4 co-workers, building metal forming, automation and related equipment. Each piece of equipment has unique attributes as they are assembled one at a time. The work environment is skilled trades, there is no high volume or repetitive manufacturing at Minster. Fully trained Machine Tool Builders will work from blue prints, use a variety of measuring instruments while working in close tolerances and a variety of hand and power tools to accomplish the work. Fully trained and competent machine tool builders will have versatile skills and in-depth knowledge of: Mechanics Hydraulics Pneumatics Electronics Blue Print Reading Precision Measuring Instruments (mics, calipers, etc.) Communication skills are critical. Machine Tool Builders interface on a regular basis with mechanical/ electrical engineers, project managers, sales staff and customers while building Minster's "engineered to order" products. Careers that would have the required foundational skills that are desirable are: Machinist Diesel Mechanic Maintenance Technician Ag-Diesel Mechanic HVAC Technician Mechanic Auto Technician Robotic Technician Aviation Mechanic/Technician Manufacturing Technician Graduates from joint vocational schools and technical colleges with training in the mentioned disciplines would also have those same foundational skills.
