    POSITION:              ADULT PROBATION OFFICER (PRETRIAL FIELD)

    LOCATION:             WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES

    SALARY:                 $45,235 ANNUALLY

    JOB SUMMARY:    Under general supervision, involves conducting bond investigations for the Court, monitoring defendants’ compliance with court orders; conducting urinalysis and breathalyzer testing; performing intakes and orientations; status reports and violation memos; appearing in court as required and performing other duties as necessary. Field work may be required. Hours are primarily 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but many vary and include day and evening hours with some weekends.  This position is in the Pretrial Unit of Adult Probation.

    Becoming a Probation Officer would allow you to be involved with the 19th Judicial Court within local government.   Your day will consist of assisting Probationers to solve problems and make necessary adjustments to reduce law-violating behavior.  You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County.  Being able to build working relationships with employees, 30 countywide departments and the public, is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning.

    In order to be successful in this role you must have a Bachelor's Degree from a college or university of recognized standing with course work in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Corrections or a related field and familiarity with standards, policies, and functions of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court.
