02-Jan-2019 Job ID 256542BR Job Description DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Research and study cellular molecules and organelles to understand cell function and organization in support of oncology clinical trials. Design and interpret the results of molecular and cellular experiments, in support of oncology trial clinical testing. Conduct research on cell organization and function, including mechanisms of cell signaling and cell differentiation. Develop multi-color, cell-based flow cytometry assays to monitor biomarkers and cell characteristics in patient samples. Develop cell and bead-based color compensation protocols necessary for clinical sample testing using flow cytometry. Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot the labs advanced 17-color flow cytometers. Employ cellular and molecular protocols to process patient samples, such as bone marrow and peripheral blood, in preparation for clinical testing. Compile and analyze molecular or cellular experimental data, troubleshoot experimental inconsistencies, and adjust experimental designs as necessary. Monitor the proliferation and viability of multiple cell lines necessary for cell-based assay development in support of oncology clinical trials. Design and execute validation protocols aimed at the regulatory qualification of cell-based assays for clinical trial testing. Design and execute flow-based high throughput screening protocols aimed at monitoring and detecting biomarkers in cancer patients. Coordinate molecular or cellular research activities with scientists specializing in other fields. Actively support patient sample testing, data analysis, and LIMS entry (Laboratory Information Management System). Evaluate new technologies to enhance or complement current research in the field of oncology clinical trial testing. Provide scientific direction for project teams regarding the evaluation or handling of devices, drugs, and cells for in-vitro and in-vivo disease models. Evaluate new supplies and equipment to ensure operability in specific laboratory settings. Train clinical scientists to operate and maintain advanced flow cytometers, in support of patient sample testing. Instruct undergraduate and graduate students within the areas of cellular or molecular biology. Maintain accurate laboratory records and data, employing quality-controlled laboratory notebooks or electronic documentation systems. Prepare reports, experimental work instructions, manuscripts, and meeting presentations.
