This position will work in support of our engineers within our Production, Research & Development and our Laboratory settings, to help drive some of our highest priority projects forward. Olin Corporation is a leading vertically-integrated global manufacturer of chemical products and a leading U.S. manufacturer of ammunition. Winchester's principal manufacturing facilities produce and distribute sporting ammunition, law enforcement ammunition, reloading components, small caliber military ammunition and components and industrial cartridges. The Chemist Intern will work within the production organization under a technical supervisor. This is a temporary position for the summer; specific start and end dates are flexible depending on school schedule. The intern is expected to work safely and to learn to complete their assignments independently. Applicants must also be able to relate and communicate professionally with co-workers at various levels, and show ability to change priorities and handle multiple tasks. Teamwork and cooperation, as well as independent initiative are critical as well as proficient experience in Microsoft Excel and Word. Our expectations of you as an intern are high. We will push you to help you realize your potential in your current work assignment. We expect you to contribute, participate in meetings and team building everything a full-time, permanent team member would do. We also encourage you to spend time participating in community outreach efforts, learning from senior engineers and having fun. You will make new friends and meet people who will help make you successful at Olin Chlor Alkali. Required Qualifications: * Students must be currently enrolled in a Chemistry or Science-related discipline program at an accredited College or University (local students will be given preference). * Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (Documentation required). Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations * Competent with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) * Must be able to understand and prioritize initiatives; be flexible and adaptable * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing *Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education * Olin does not provide any form of sponsorship to applicants not authorized to work in the US. *A minimum requirement for this U.S. - based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis.
