  • Responsibilities

    Job Summary: Under limited supervision, plans, directs, and coordinates activities for designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and within financial cost objectives.

    Essential Functions:

    • Analyzes current operational functions on assigned projects, such as tooling, production, material logistics, and coordination of operational functions.
    • Works with supervisors/managers in various departments and areas of responsibility to define, coordinate, and develop solutions for department or area specific requirements and problems.
    • Establishes work plans for each project phase; makes staffing recommendations and coordinates activities of assigned personnel within prescribed budget and according to schedule.
    • Reviews project status, modifies schedule or plan as required; communicates change to customer, sales office and/or corporate office. Reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedure for project accomplishment and allotment of resources to various phases of the project.
    • Interfaces with customers, application and design engineering groups. 
    •  Prepares timely in progress reports and final project updates.
    • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
    • Works individually and as a team to develop and implement processes and procedures, quality improvements, and cost flow improvements.
    • Other duties as assigned through identified and established process improvements.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • May train production team members on designated project procedures.
    • Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
    • Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; with two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in electric heating and/or project management.
    • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form. Deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Algebra: Deal with system of real numbers; linear, quadratic, rational, exponential, logarithmic, angle and circular functions, and inverse functions; related algebraic solution of equations and inequalities; limits and continuity, and probability and statistical inference. Geometry: Deductive axiomatic geometry, plane and solid; and rectangular coordinates. Shop Math: Practical application of fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, logarithms, slide rule, practical algebra, geometric construction, and essentials of trigonometry.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
    • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and database software. JDE systems and Microsoft Project experience preferred.
    • Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

    Physical Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard operate equipment and read application information. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
    • May be exposed to considerable noise from machinery.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelors and/or advanced degree in packaging engineering, industrial design, or related field.
    • 5+ years experience in the structural design of packaging for educational, publishing, retail, consumer products, technology and/or pharmaceutical markets.
    • Must understand the entire design process from concept, prototype, testing, and production.
    • Demonstrated experience in developing innovative solutions for paper-based packaging. Experience working in product design and non-paper packaging a significant benefit. Experience in education and publishing industries a plus.
    • Advanced knowledge of ArtiosCAD required. Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft products preferred. Solidworks experience a significant plus.
    • Knowledge of packaging testing procedures- ISTA, TAPPI, ASTM.
    • Occasional Travel may be required.
