    The leading provider of international mail and parcel services is seeking a manager to run its mid-west distribution center. The facility operates within the international business unit which is part of a large highly regarded global corporation known for reliability, accuracy and outstanding levels of customer service. The international business serves numerous commercial customers distributing mail and parcels through a proprietary network and postal/commercial partners, providing cost effective, performance based services globally.

     

    SUMMARY OF JOB:

     

    The International Facility Manager, Mid-West Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a regional US international facility providing processing, shipping and distribution of international mail and parcels.

     

    The Facility Manager is responsible for the successful operation of all aspects of the International Processing Center. The Facility Manager will recruit, select, manage and motivate the International Processing Center team who carry out all of the day-to-day functions necessary to provide and maintain a highly efficient and customer service centric production environment. Exceptional quality of services and maintenance of superior customer and employee relationships are foremost requirements. The Manager will be familiar with every step of the international production process, quality control, resource management and customer requirements to assure price and service expectations are achieved.

     

    The position requires a thorough understanding of all aspects of the international mail and parcel distribution business. The manager will be knowledgeable of all production technology/software and lean management process techniques necessary to efficiently operate a large labor intensive processing system subject to tight service delivery requirements.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Hire, develop, mentor and train a supervisory team to maintain set performance standards as defined by products and service levels, utilizing metrics and tools.
    •  Manage staffing, scheduling and assignments to maintain budgetary targets; labor, postage to successfully achieve targeted financial goals of the facility and business unit.
    •  Interface with major customers on a regular basis, ensuring all performance expectations are met or exceeded.
    •  Assure continued communication with sales and customer service on matters relating to production, quality and special client requests.
    •  Oversee and participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines.
    •  Monitor daily production to ensure that all production standards are met.
    •  Through training and other appropriate means, continue to upgrade skills and industry knowledge of all members of the International Processing Center operating team.
    •  Responsible for quality results, metrics, using system driven tools and reported performance audits from related teams; Customer Service, Sales and Billing.
    •  Communicates effectively with all levels in the organization, its clients and /or vendors, and postal/government agencies both verbally and in writing.

     

    The manager will be particularly involved in working with the Commercial Team, Finance Team, and other departments and the unit leadership to provide solutions, input, and/or direction to solve issues that are uncovered in financial and performance analysis.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience that demonstrates knowledge of production planning, communications skill, statistical analysis, accounting principles and production process optimization.
    • 7+ years of progressively more responsible management experience in operations and the international mail and parcel distribution industry.
    • Strong computer skills and solid command of management tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Project Management.
    • Experience in the design, management of an international logistics network is required. Experience in the international mail consolidation industry is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge, experience in international shipping, postal rules and regulations, customs law/regulations is highly desirable.
    • Must have demonstrated ability to understand and analyze financial and other business data to effectively make continuous improvements.
    • Demonstrated success in building organizational capabilities through process design, organizational development, recruiting and training.
