Job description:
Position Summary
The PCBA Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing assembly processes for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA). This role ensures high-quality production, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement in line with customer and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and maintain PCBA manufacturing processes (SMT, wave soldering, reflow, selective soldering, conformal coating, test, etc.).
- Provide technical support to production lines to resolve process issues, equipment downtime, and quality concerns.
- Evaluate and implement new equipment, tools, and materials to improve throughput, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct process capability studies, DOE (Design of Experiments), and root cause analysis for yield improvements.
- Monitor key process indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Quality, Design, and Production teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with IPC standards.
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) through process development, DFM/A (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) feedback, and pilot builds.
- Train operators and technicians on assembly processes and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing) or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in PCBA process engineering (SMT, wave/reflow soldering, selective soldering, conformal coating, testing).
- Strong knowledge of IPC standards
- Hands-on experience with process troubleshooting, root cause analysis
- Proficiency in creating work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation.
